Goals - Make them measurable

Posted in: Goals, Personal development, Uncategorized |

It’s one thing to know what your ultimate goal is. Its another knowing that you are getting there. Like kids in the back seat your little voice keeps asking, ‘are we there yet? ‘ and ‘How much longer?’

So if you have a goal to have massive wealth. How will you know when you have achieved that? And how will you know if you are heading toward massive wealth?

Give your goal number and make it measurable. How much is massive wealth? By when do you expect it?

Now also consider is it attainable? Is it realistic? I had someone tell me they wanted an income of 10 million dollars 2 exotic homes overseas in less than 4 months. And at the time this person was unemployed and broke. I couldn’t get my head around it. To attain 2 houses overseas in that short time, to me, registered as a lot of work just to attain this part of the goal. The red tape and not to mention just locating the houses.

It’s quite possible if you have enough people working for you sorting out the transfer of ownership. However starting with nothing and even allowing for winning the 10 million in the lotteries where would one person find the people to help them to do all that in that short time? If you’re unemployed you haven’t got the right connections yet and it takes time to build those connections too. Depending on your starting point it’s from there you have to work out whether your goal is realistic . So massive wealth may take more than 4 months to attain once you start putting down the numbers that define what massive wealth

Once you have your end goal measurable you might realise it will take more than a year to attain it. Massive wealth might be a 5 year goal to be realistic when you consider where you are now. So work out what you need to do this year to have that massive wealth in 2013.

Then to keep the motivation and keep yourself going break it down into manageable amounts and make mini goals and targets you want to attain during the year.

It gives your mind, which can be like kids in the back seat asking, ‘Are we there yet?’ an answer. We are making progress and are heading in the right direction and we will get there when we get there.

Just watch out for hidden agenda’s in your written goals. Discussed in my next post.
