Who else wants to Zoom and Save time?

Posted in: Uncategorized |

I like to zoom through websites getting through as many as I can and not see hours disappear in a unproductive pastime. Like many who browse the internet I like to explore. I have a particular approach to looking at websites using the PhotoReading techniques and some strategiesI developed for web research. I also like to check out one particular social site that supports bloggers. I favour Blogging Zoom because the way the submissions are presented they are most immediately accessible. I like the structure and my research strategies work well there.

After a lengthy break from blogging and BloggingZoom due to other work commitments I decided I deserve a break.

A 30-minute break and to visit Blogging Zoom. I set the timer and went to BZ upcoming to check out the up coming post.. I like looking at the up-coming post because it’s so random. This makes for some interesting reading since there are a variety of topics. The upcoming post are a mixed bag of topics that range from blogging for money, my life sucks, and how to wash a car blog posts (okay, I haven’t really seen a topic like that but it’s possible)

I worked my way through the first ten page and opening 40 submissions that interested to have a quick look at their websites. A few of the submissions were worthy of a Zoom but I didn’t zoom.

Why not?

The folks owners of the pages made it inconvenient for me .Why should I go back to BZ wait for the submission page to reload and then zoom? Okay you might think it’s only 10 seconds.. Really it’s more like 15 seconds since I have to wait for the page with the zoom link, to load again. Now consider this. There were probably 25 out of 40 pages that I would have zoomed. If you put a calculator to that , 15 * 25 = 375 sec 375 /60 = 6 minutes 25 seconds just waiting for pages to reload. Since I’m only allowing myself a 30 minute break it’s such a waste waiting for those pages to reload again.

I guess BZers may habitually go back and zoom or they don’t even visit the post and just decide if it’s worthy of a zoom based on the 350 character description. I prefer to scope out the post since I like to add good blogs to my RSS feeds. I figure if I land on the blog through BZ a few times and I like the post each time then I should add it to my RSS..

I wonder how many zooms are lost because the reader forgot they found the page through BZ? If you make the effort to submit. Add the BZ button. 25 bloggers would have had one more zoom under the belt yesterday.

So I may not have zoomed your site I may still add it to my RSS feed only you have to catch me 4 times with a good article.
