And you think you’re focusing on what you want?
But it’s not showing up is it?
When I ask people what their goal is they often tell me something like, I want to eat healthy food, I want to exercise every day, I want to call more people in my job. I want to master PhotoReading.
If they really wanted that they’d have it. Each of those wants require nothing out of the ordinary. They can be reasonably done but…..
But - is the problem. Have you ever noticed the "but" cancels out everything before it? I think you’d be great for the job, but … and whatever follows equals not getting it. I’d love to go out with you, but… yes, again whatever follows means you’re not going out. I want to learn PhotoReading but…
So taking it back to the topic of the article, you think you’re focusing on something, but you’re not getting it?
That often means there is a but, butting in that you haven’t addressed.
For example I want to eat healthy food but, I don’t want to because… . I want to go to the gym three times a week but, I don’t want to because,… I want to call more people but, I don’t want to because,… I want to learn PhotoReading but I’m afraid I won’t get it.
The problem with thinking you want something that isn’t showing up or isn’t the behaviour or action you want to demonstrate is that it keeps you stuck in wanting loop. Wanting something is part of an often unspoken but. You need to let go of wanting and start working toward having.
If you use tools like Paraliminals or subliminals or hypnosis and remain stuck because in the process you often surrender to what the unconscious but… The non-conscious mind has perfected the skill of fulfilling your command. When you consciously want something the non-conscious mind follows the but You don’t need to say it. Just the fact that you are giving voice to wanting something you are implying a but I… And with the ecology check now running, checking your programs, non-conscious servant following the I want healthy food but I don’t like the inconvenience of preparing healthy food. I want to go to the gym but I don’t want the inconvenience and discomfort associated with going to the gym. I want to call more people to make more sales but I don’t want the inconvenience and discomfort of making those calls. I want to learn PhotoReading but I don’t want to take time to learn it.
So you get more of the same. You might even seem to go backwards in a big way when you use tools. You’re stuck in a loop like a broken record.
So with this information you might look more closely and have an ah-ha. I want to eat healthy foods but I enjoy junk food. So adjust the want. I want to "enjoy" healthy food more. Now you think you’ve nailed it. Sorry the but is still butting in. The truth is you might want to enjoy healthy food more but you don’t..
You want to get away from wanting. Make your goal your aspiration, your intention. But watch out for those buts. They can still be butting in. I aspire to or intent to discover the taste for healthy foods that I enjoy more than the junk I eat now. A certain clear goal. Is it perfect? No, if you want it, no.
If you desperately want something the but is butting in. If you intend to have something in your life you have to quit wanting it. Let go of wanting it and just expect to have it and be prepared to let go of what comes after but, as well

Updating my blog. Imported some of the old post. May or may not import more. Mostly I hope that this blog will cover some of my musing and perhaps some life coaching tips and PhotoReading tips.
Some reason for my lengthly silence. I’m working on a book (with my mind writing a second one). I’m also planning a class on improving the way people use the internet for research. This I expect will be a 3 hour course and will help anyone get more out of their search results and time on the internet. I think if PhotoReaders aren’t using these techniques they aren’t taking advantage of PhotoReading skill which has to be a major improvement on the 25% loss of natural reading speed on the computer screen.
The easiest way to keep up with my post is to add my blog to your RSS feed.

The interesting news right now is the usual news for the end of the US school year. Summer reading. The general consensus is that if you want to be a good reader you have to read more. So the talk is of summer reading list.
Reading? Is that really what students want to do during their summer breaks. If you have to read more you will want to read faster. How exactly does reading more make you a better reader? Does it finally lead to the breakthrough of understanding what the author is explaining.
Or is it the freedom of not having to write the answer to the question. What do you think the author was talking about? And getting your answers wrong.
This post is more of a muse for me. I think we’re still missing something in teaching reading when the solution offered to solve poor reading is… read more.
How does enduring the frustration of spending our most precious commodity, time, without a better purpose than to be a better reader motivate us to read? How can a slow reader select books that are at least interesting enough to want to read. How does a boring book impact the motivation for reading. Poorly I think. I remember reading assignments in school. The assigned, girly book did little to encourage the male members of the class to read it. I too found it boring and preferred to read something else.
I suggest if you do summer reading goals, find some books that make it worth while.

Science has repeatedly shown that sleep aids learning and memory. And sleep or rather the lack of it is stressful in our day to day pace of life.
I often get asked if I know a cure for insomnia. The inability to fall asleep or after waking way too early to get back to sleep. Well the solution might be easier than you think.
Warm your feet.
Science has also shown it’s impossible to fall asleep if your feet are cold. This keeps some people tossing and turning until sleep comes. Usually when the feet are warm from this exercise. A quick trick to warm your feet is to wash them in cold water about 10 minutes before going to bed. Rub dry briskly with a towel and put on warm socks. The feet will quickly warm and when you hop under the covers with your warm feet sleep will arrive quickly.
What about waking up? Why can’t I fall back asleep?
Check if your feet are warm. If you did nocturnal wandering without putting on slippers to walk across the cold bathroom tiles you’ve chilled your feet and you cannot sleep because they are now cold. Also if you habitually throw the covers off your feet and they are in a draft they may be colder than you think. The simple solution could be to wear bed socks.
Warm your feet if you want a good nights sleep. And yes sleep does help if you’re struggling to learn something. So sleep on it the answer can come tomorrow.
