Frequently Asked Questions

PhotoReading Australia

How hard is it to learn?

Learning is the easy part. Your instructor will have the hard part. Much of what you learned about reading was to help you to get started at reading. There were some rules that were intended to help you "learn" to read. Once you did that they stopped teaching you how to read. So all your rules about reading belong in primary school. To advance through the later years a different approach is required. You were never taught that, so now the adult reader has rules about reading that don't fit the level of reading they do.

You already know how to read. Now it's time to learn to use the natural ability of your brain to take your reading to the next level. That means letting go of some of the rules you learned in primary school. PhotoReading has been around for 20 years and thousands of people have already learned...

I've got exams next week. How long does it take to learn?

If you have less than four weeks or are so far behind with your reading, that PhotoReading is the only thing that will save you. then the probability is you won't learn it in time. You cannot expect to be fit enough to run a marathon with only one week of training.

I can teach you how to PhotoRead in a weekend. And you can be applying it to your texts the following Monday. How confident you will be will depend on you.

There is a fine line between positive expectancy and wanting something so much you force it. If you try to force it the mind will throw up blocks. That makes it difficult for you to get out of your own way and will block your confidence.

Will I lose my my ability to read as I've always done?

I have books I don't want to read fast. . Will I still be able to do that?

PhotoReading uses the skills you already have and gives you the choice how you want to approach your reading. So if you want to sit back for a couple of hours to read a book at leisure you'll be able to do that. At the same time, you can get all your other reading done at a much faster rate leaving you with more time to enjoy. When you learn to PhotoRead it is like adding power tools to your tool box. Your other tools are still available.

Will I have to use special CDs every time I read?

No. Unlike some courses you won't need software of special CDs to turn on your already capable mind. You will be given the resources to let you review and integrate what you have learned. However you won't need any special tools or wires. Just open your morning newspaper and start using what you learned straight away. Check your email with the same techniques and notice how fast you have your reading done.

I need to understand what I read in detail. How good will my comprehension be?

You'll be taught how to get the information you need with a level of understanding that suits your needs. So your comprehension will be as good as or even better than what you get with traditional reading.

And I'll have the skills to get my reading done in one third the time?

Absolutely.

How old do you have to be to learn PhotoReading?

A good age to start learning PhotoReading is 13. Anyone between 13 and 100 can learn PhotoReading. The class is intended for the adult learner, so people younger than 16 should be accompanied by an adult. People as young as 9 and as old as 80 have learned to PhotoRead and so can you.

Writes...
Thanks to Alex's coaching, I tripled my study speed within three months, only to have it triple again three months later. My grade rose from a 2.1 to a First Class. The next year, I completed a dissertation on a topic that had decades' worth of articles...and got a First Class on that too!

In the first evening I was confused and doubt what is PhotoReading about and can it really help.

With English as my second language I can hardly finish to read a book or even a chapter. After 2 days workshop I can finish to read a chapter within 8 minutes. I am confident I can improve.
